Talk overview

What started out as a passion project between three friends to get better access to parliamentary debates in Singapore has turned into a useful tool for academics, practitioners, and the electorate to learn more about what their representatives are saying in parliament. We want to share about this initiative - Par-leh-Mate, which hopes to bring more transparency to politics and governance in Singapore. This is a project which first started with data acquisition, cleaning (Python), to modelling and transformation (dbt), topic modelling, summarisation with LLMs, and finally deployment (on Render).
